Employment Opportunities
Our Priority: The Client – Of Course! – Every new employee has many things to learn. Let this be the first item on your list: Learning about the client.
The client is the reason we all have jobs.
Greet the client with a welcoming smile. They need to know right away that you care.
Offer your help to the client in a friendly way. Courtesy is what the client expects from all of us.
Never, ever argue with the client. Get a manager or crew leader to help you right away if you can’t help the client. We all lose if the client becomes frustrated.
If you cannot solve the problem, tell the client that you will have the owner contact them to take care of the problem.
If the clients are not pleased with our service, they will take their business elsewhere.

Holidays – We observe ten holidays throughout the year.
Health Insurance – DAN’S participates in a health insurance plan with Principal Health Care, Inc. Only full-time, continuous employees are eligible to participate in the plan. In addition, there is a 90-day waiting period after an employee meets the eligibility requirement to join the plan. The employee’s portion varies and is taken out of their check once per month and DAN’S pays the rest. Employees pay 100% of any premiums for their spouse or dependents. Each participating employee will receive an insurance card with their name on it and will be required to carry it at all times. There is also an insurance handbook explaining all benefits of the health insurance plan. The office manager can provide additional information.
Life Insurance/Retirement Plan – DAN’S provides a method to plan for your future which works on a voluntary basis. Full-time employees are eligible to participate in the plan after one year of employment. If you elect to participate, you will need to make arrangements to have payroll deductions from your check. The office manager can provide additional information.
Tuition Reimbursement – Promoting from within is the philosophy of DAN’S, and we know that higher education is the key to success. Therefore, we encourage further education in the areas of grounds management, landscaping, and horticulture. Employees interested in taking courses, seminars, workshops, or symposiums should submit all information in advance to the owner for consideration. Information must include: a description of the course, time period involved, and tuition costs. Once the course is approved, it will be determined how much reimbursement the employee will receive based on the grade received. Reimbursement will only apply to a grade of “B” or better. Any grade of “C” or below will not be eligible for reimbursement.
Bonus Awards – The following benefits are eligible to all employment classifications:
Suggestion of the Month – A $25.00 bonus will be given each month to the employee who submits the best suggestion on how DAN’S can save money or be more productive. All suggestions must be in writing to the owner and must be implemented by that employee and crew.
Employee of the Quarter – An award will be given at the end of each quarter (March, June, September, and December) for outstanding performance throughout that quarter. A special placard will be awarded along with a $50.00 bonus check.
Employee of the Year – An award will be given at the end of each calendar year for outstanding performance throughout the year. A special placard will be awarded along with a $100.00 bonus check.
